Fig Hemp Seed Bars
For a baking sheet, makes about 40 bars
Filling:
17.5 oz | figs |
3.5 oz | ground hemp seeds |
2 cups | apple juice |
Dough:
10.5 oz | whole-wheat flour |
10.5 oz | butter |
10.5 oz | oatmeal |
3.15 oz | cane sugar |
4 tablespoons | sesame seeds |
1.4 oz | hemp seeds |
Over a small flame, bring all of the ingredients for the filling to a low boil. Don't forget to stir. Add a bit of apple juice if necessary. Cook until it is soft and let it cool.
Knead together all of the ingredients for the dough except for the hemp seeds. Lay a bit more than half of the dough on baking paper on top of a baking sheet. Push the dough down until it is evenly hard (possibly using a rolling pin to help at the end).
Spread the filling out on the dough (it should be lukewarm now!). Spread the rest of the dough gently on top of the filling and push it down lightly. You can also sprinkle on a few more seeds.
Bake on the middle rack of the oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 40-50 minutes.
While the sheet cake is still lukewarm, cut it into bars.
